Introduction

As a dedicated and highly skilled lung transplant surgeon, I have established a reputation for clinical excellence, compassionate patient care, and pioneering surgical techniques. Over the past four years, I have successfully performed 100 lung transplants, marking a significant milestone in my career and contributing meaningfully to the advancement of Lung transplantation in India.

Professional Journey

My journey as a lung transplant surgeon began with rigorous cardiothoracic training from 2008-2010 at the prestigious Sree chitra tirunal institute of Medical sciences and technology , Thiruvananthapuram , Kerala , India followed by advanced training in lung transplantation in University of Vienna in 2016.

I was an integral player in the Heart & Lung transplant program at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences , Kochi , Kerala , India from 2014 -- 2019.

Throughout my career, I have remained committed to continuous learning and integrating the latest advancements in transplant medicine, ensuring the best possible outcomes for my patients.

Achievements and Milestones

100 Successful Lung Transplants: Performed 100 cases over 4 years 2021-2025 involving clinically diverse cases like Interstitial lung disease , Bronchiectasis , COPD , primary pulmonary hypertension and Eisenmengers syndrome including complex and high-risk procedures, with consistently high survival rates.
Tracheal transplantation: Performed 3 allograft tracheal transplantations for adenoid cystic carcinoma involving the whole trachea
Patient-Centred Care: Recognised for empathetic communication, comprehensive pre- and post-operative management, and a multidisciplinary team approach to patient recovery.

Innovation in Surgical Techniques: Implemented advanced minimally invasive methods like sternal sparing lung transplantation , Video assisted lung transplantation and Pioneered Lobar lung transplantation for pediatric and short statured recipients with restrictive lung pathologies. Contributed to research in robotic lung transplantation. immunosuppression protocols and post-transplant rehabilitation.
Mentorship and Leadership: Actively involved in training the next generation of lung transplant surgeons with lung transplant fellowship and observership programs for national and international fellows and supporting lung transplant programmes at reputed institutions in the country
Over 100 successful lung transplants performed for patients with diverse end-stage lung conditions
Expertise in single and double lung transplantation, including high-risk and complex cases
Experience with advanced perioperative support including ECMO
Leadership in building a structured lung transplant program with long-term outcome focus
