Road traffic accidents can be a result of rash driving with scant respect for traffic rules . The damage the body suffers as a result of high speed collisions can be irreparable resulting in life long suffering . Rib crack fractures which are undisplaced, just need observation and pain control and heal in around 6 weeks . But in rare situations surgery is indicated for rib fractures, especially if grossly displaced. Sharing an interesting experience ....
60 year old man involved in a Road traffic accident fracturing multiple ribs on the right side , some of which are displaced and impinging on the right lung . The fractured segments were realigned back into position and fixed with titanium plates and screws. Our foray into Thoracic Orthopaedics ....
