Thoracic surgical procedures performed using the Da Vinci surgical robot using 3 or 4 keyhole incisions using precision robotic instruments , 10X magnification and 3D visualisation . Provides advantages of less postoperative pain , less postoperative pain , smaller scars and early recovery and speedy discharge from hospital .
Thoracic surgical procedures performed through keyhole incisions 2 or 3 small incisions (5mm to 10mm in size) . Smaller scars , less infection , less postoperative pain and early discharge and recovery compared to open thoracic surgery form the hallmarks of this modality
In place of 3 to 4 chest muscles cut in open thoracic surgery , muscle sparing thoracotomy leads to cutting of only a single muscle or retracting of muscles thus preserving shoulder function and early return to physical activity post thoracic surgery

Q. What are the advantages of Robotic thoracic surgery ?
A. Surgery is performed through 8mm keyholes using sophisticated robotic instruments making it painless and scarless . Robotic technology provides 3D visualization with 10x magnification and has "endowrist " technology which allows it to perform movements more efficiently than the human hand . Better cancer clearance with robotic surgery in lung cancer surgery. Allows patient discharge by 2nd day and return to work by a week.
Q. What are the Thoracic surgeries that can be performed robotically?
